Sergeant Mehmet’s Memorial

Sergeant Mehmet’s Memorial was constructed in 1919. Just after 4 years of the war. It is one of the oldest memorial of two. But only base is original. It is located on “the Nek”, Turkish name is Cesarettepe. Sergeant Mehmet fought courageously on the first day of the campaign with his soldiers and the area take his Turkish name fot that: “Cesarettepe” which means “Courage Hill”.
