Aspendos is an ancient city at Serik province. It is 48km away from city center of Antalya. It is a well preserved theatre (built in 2nd century AD as a Roman design) and it is still in use as a stage of the annual Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival. There was battle between the Persians and the Greeks in 469 BC, then ruled by the Spartans 120 years. After the death of Alexander the Great, the city became part of Seleucid Kingdom and then the Roman province of Asia in 133 BC.
